Humpback whales on the #SapphireCoastNSW! 🐳 Winter whale watching is in full swing and lucky whale watchers in @visitmerimbula, @visiteden and #Bermagui have been cruising the coast with @sapphirecoastaladventures as they search for whales heading north to their breeding grounds in northern Australia. Northern migration tours will continue until the whales start heading back south to Antarctica around mid-August. Gems like this are in abundance on the #SapphireCoastNSW. 💎 👌 If you're looking for secluded bays surrounded by our iconic pink and red rocks, head for the coast between Merimbula and Eden. Known as 'Devonian' rock, this pink sandstone and red mudstone was deposited during the Devonian period about 360–380 million years ago. You can find it from Tura Headland just north of @visitmerimbula, all the way to Nadgee wilderness south of @visiteden. Exciting news from the #SapphireCoastNSW 🐳 …whale season is coming early this year! 😍 Our #WhaleWatching tours usually run from August - November during the southern migration as humpback whales travel south from the Great Barrier Reef to their feeding grounds in Antarctica. However, we have been seeing such an increase in whale numbers each year, that @sapphirecoastaladventures will now be offering additional #WhaleWatching tours from May - July as the whales head north to their breeding grounds in the tropics! 🐋 Tours will be available in Merimbula and Eden, and then also in Bermagui from June. Magical forests of the #SapphireCoastNSW. 😍 The spotted gum and burrawang forests found between Tathra and Bermagui leave us awe-inspired every time we visit. Taking a walk here feels like stepping back in time, amplified by sounds of the bush like the swoosh of a yellow-tailed black cockatoo or scamper of a goanna. North of Eden distillery has long been recognised for using locally-sourced ingredients, but they have recently announced that their popular ‘Classic’ gin is now being made with local juniper berry! @northofedengin has partnered with a local juniper grower in #Bombala (less than 100km away) to recreate their award-winning gin. And it tastes absolutely amazing! 🙌 Juniper is the single most important ingredient in gin, however most Australian-made gins use juniper flown in from Eastern Europe. Over the next 12 months, #NorthOfEden aims to become the first distillery in #Australia to transition their entire range to locally grown juniper on a consistent and ongoing basis. Step into a forested wonderland in Goodenia Rainforest. 💙 Located approximately 25-minutes by car from @pambulavillage, this hidden pocket of lush #rainforest in #SouthEastForestNationalPark is a place of rejuvenation. 🌿 Explore a lush gully of ferns and understorey species, moss-covered rocks, vines and fungi, all which come alive after the rain. The 1.2km walking trail loops through the gully beneath a magnificent lilly pilly canopy.
