Discover pristine beaches, coves, inlets and estuaries in our coastal towns and spectacular national parks. From unspoilt beaches that hug our coast, to the still water of secluded estuaries, the fast running currents of our rivers and the ever changing tides of our lakes and lagoons, there’ll always be somewhere you can enjoy the softest sand and pristine shoreline all to yourself.
We are lucky to have more than 150 beaches and more than 400 kilometres of estuarine foreshore. Some are so remote you have to walk for days to reach them, others are so convenient you have to arrive early in the morning to stake your claim on the sand.
Wildlife is abundant, thanks to the warm East Australian Current from the north – yes Nemo’s famous EAC – which collides with the southern current coming from Antarctica, causing a colossal eruption of marine bio-diversity.
Discover hidden beaches in our national parks, with isolated and spectacular beaches found in
Beowa National Park,
Mimosa Rocks National Park
and
Bournda National Park. For the ultimate coastal walking adventure, tackle the 30km
Light to Light Walk, or the 27km
Wharf to Wharf Walk.
You'll find some of the prettiest and
most
secluded beaches in the region!
There's plenty of family friendly beaches on offer, like Bar Beach in Merimbula, or southern Tathra Beach, which is patrolled in summer until the end of February. There are several surf schools on offer in Bermagui, Tathra and Merimbula, offering fun lessons for all ages and abilities. Or you can even enjoy a family SUP or kayaking lesson in the calm waters of our lakes and rivers.
Take a dip in Bermagui's famous Blue Pool, one of the most picturesque swimming holes on the Sapphire Coast. The lesser-known
Bruce Steer Pool is located in Bermagui Harbour and is a great place to snorkel and splash about.
Aslings Beach Rock Pool in Eden is set amongst spectacular pink and white cliffs, with views to Baronda Head in Beowa National Park.
Immerse yourself in nature with one of our guides, zoom down a twisting mountain bike trail, find your dream beach, secret fishing spot, hidden cove or perfect wave. Make the most of the Sapphire Coast.
