Gulaga Wholefoods sits at the top of Bermagui town, wrapped in the verandah of an historic boarding house, where people of old used to rest before boarding for their ferry trip north to Sydney. A combined bulk wholefoods store, organic café and plant-based drinks bar where you can shop consciously, then sit and gaze over the ocean to Gulaga Mountain herself with an organic Delano coffee or health-giving smoothie loaded with super foods.
As well as decadent raw and dairy free treats, Gulaga has over 180 products in bulk bins, loads of gluten and dairy free options, kombucha, alternative milks, local eggs, and produce. You can stock up on ‘natural living’ products for body and skin care, but also home cleaning, shopping and well, everything for living ethically while on holiday.
Seriously, the pies are to die for, but the bread being produced in the Wild Rye's ovens is primo! Honorbread opened in 2015 and is an institution in Bermagui. A morning trip to the bakery’s cute shop early in the morning sees customers chatting and sipping coffee while they wait in line. Some of the Honorbread stars on their hit list of lovely loaves are the Classic Country Loaf, Rye & Caraway loaf, Fruit and Walnut, Wholewheat, Olive and Rosemary, Oat Porridge and Almond loaf, Black Bread and Hightop loaves and our favourite Raisin Fennel and Spelt.
