WHALE TRAIL HEADLAND EVENTS 2022
This spring, join us in celebrating whale season and learning about Yuin Country and culture at three special Aboriginal Cultural Experiences in Tathra, Merimbula & Eden.
Each event will feature a different local Aboriginal dance group, including a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, a Dance Performance and a local speaker to highlight the ancient and special cultural connections the Yuin people have to whales.
The events are free and everyone is welcome. Please bring a chair or picnic blanket to sit on as you enjoy the celebrations.

Featuring the GUlaga Dancers
The Gulaga Dancers established and led by Warren Ngarrae Foster are a nationally recognised dance troupe that have continued the strong Djiringanj tradition of honouring the land and nature through dance and artistic connection.
The Gulaga Dancers have shared their culture at countless events over the past 20 years – celebrating and sustaining the practice of traditional dance across the generations.

FEATURING THE DJAADJAWAN DANCERS
The Djaadjawan Dancers are a traditional female Aboriginal dance group from the Yuin Nation of NSW, Australia. The group includes girls, women and Elders from multiple generations from Wallaga Lake, Narooma and La Perouse in NSW.
Djaadjawan means ‘sand’ in Dhurga language, and the group express traditional culture, beliefs and practice through dance and song. Each dance tells a story, or serves a specific purpose, such as their Welcome Dance, Healing Dance or Fishing Dance.

FEATURING DUURUNU MIRU DANCERS
Duurunu Miru are an Aboriginal dance group that tells story of the Dhawa/Thaua Country in the Yuin Nation.
They regularly perform and tell their stories around the region. They have danced at Dance Rites at the Sydney Opera House. Duurunu Miru is a multi-generational dance group, respected in the local community for developing leadership and cultural skills and sharing knowledge amongst young people.

These special events are part of Whale Trail 2022, celebrating the whale migration season with more than three months of whale events, experiences and activities from August - November. There's so much to do, with cultural and community events, self-drive tours, whale watching charters, walks and more!
